Hyaluronic Acid (HA)
Hyaluronic acid is the key to instantly plumping fine lines and making skin look glowy. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a sugar found naturally in our skin that holds water and helps keep it hydrated and plump. The HA within our bodies holds a thousand times its weight in water to not only retain all that moisture in our skin and joints, but also prevent all that moisture from evaporating into the air, according to experts. Just like collagen and elastin, the amount of naturally-occurring hyaluronic acid in our bodies decreases as we get older. Whilst we can supplement the HA levels in our body with health eating of foods that are rich in antioxidants and other nutrients, it has been long established by science that topical application of skincare products containing HA in the right formulation, will make the skin appear more dewy and younger because it improves skin elasticity,
Our HA not only contains both the higher and lower molecular weights both equally contains powerful antioxidants including Green tea and a penetration enhancer that will ensure that the active ingredients are not just sitting on the surface of your skin and not reaching the targeted skin layers where they need to work effectively.
CoQ10
The loss of collagen and elastin is a natural part of the aging process, which can cause the skin to become less smooth, firm, and elastic.
CoQ10 seeks out and neutralizes free radicals, reducing their concentrations and minimizing their effect on collagen and elastin in the skin. Without molecules like Coq10 our skin would dramatically degrade. The levels of Coq10 in a person is highest in childhood and reduces with age, this drop in concentration of antioxidants like Coq10 is one of the leading causes of aging skin. However, Coq10 can be replenished by eating balanced diet that is rich in antioxidants, but the issue with that is that only a tiny amount makes it to the skin after the process of digestion and absorption by vital internal organs and tissues. This is where topical application of CoQ10 plays its role.
Sea buckthorn Oil
What Is Sea Buckthorn?
Sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides) is a berry-filled bush from Europe and Central Asia that has long been used in traditional medicine to prevent aging, promote heart health, and clear up the skin.
Although the evidence is limited, preliminary results suggest that some of these benefits could be backed by science. The high abundance of antioxidant chemicals, vitamins, and flavonoids may be responsible for its effects.
Chemical Composition
Sea buckthorn contains:
Vitamins and Minerals including;
Vitamin A – helps maintain healthy teeth and bones (found in the berries)
Vitamin B12 – helps with energy production and red blood cell formation (berries)
Vitamin C – promotes wound healing, healthy teeth and gums (berries)
Vitamin E– helps form red blood cells (berries)
Vitamin K – crucial for blood clotting to stop bleeding (berries)
Lycopene – an antioxidant that protects DNA and proteins
Potassium – needed for fluid balance and muscle function
Calcium – promotes healthy bones, teeth, and keeps blood pressure constant
Magnesium – needed for making proteins and immune system health
Iron – needed to carry oxygen around the body
Phosphorus – maintains body pH
Flavonoids
Hippophaeosides (1-3) – (found in the leaves)
Hippophins (found in the seeds)
Catechin (leaves)
Epicatechin (leaves)
Gallocatechin (leaves)
Epigallocatechin (leaves)
Fatty Acids
Palmitic (found in the berries)
Oleitic (berries)
Linoleic (berries)
Mechanisms
Flavonoids have a high free radical scavenging activity, which contributes to sea buckthorn’s protection against oxidative stress. This may help with wounds, ulcers, inflammation, and stress-induced conditions.
Compounds found in sea buckthorn oil, such as messenger molecules produced from fatty acids (eicosanoids) and vitamins (carotenoids and tocopherols), help ease inflammation and repair tissues.
Dry or mature skin
Sea buckthorn contains vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, and C, as well as other active ingredients. It’s been used traditionally to slow down the aging process
The same lipids that may benefit hair health can also help moisturize and soften a person’s skin, improving elasticity. This may be especially useful for people with dry or mature skin, which can lose its elasticity over time.
According to the 2017 articleTrusted Source, one of sea buckthorn oil’s lipids can also speed up cell regeneration and renewal. It also contains sterols, which reduce water loss and improve firmness in a person’s skin.
Oily skin and acne
Sea buckthorn oil may be a useful moisturizing ingredient for people with oily skin. This is because it contains linolic acid, which is a component in the skin’s own oil, or sebum. Linolic acid helps to regulate moisture levels.
